This was my second year watching the Krewe of Endymion parade from the bleachers, this time – right in front of stately Gallier Hall with each float and band putting on a show for the Mayor. I was privy to all the pomp and ritual – the toasts with royalty and the smashing of champagne glasses. (I got to relive the moment standing next to Quentin Tarantino days later on his Orpheus float as he received his Key to the City, made his speech and smashed his glass).
Endymion is a HUGE parade with generous throws (watch your head – these guys throw hard), celebrities and floats up to 9 cars long (330 feet)! This year’s theme was “An Evening at the Opera” and the Kern floats were beautiful. Regular readers of this blog know how pressed for time I am – apologies for not telling more stories and labeling more of the photos.
Marching groups and other attractions include the Budweiser Clydesdales, Talledega, flambeau, Mayor Mitch Landrieu, St. Augustine, Grand Marshall Walking Dead‘s Norman Reedus, Vampire Diaries’ Ian Somerhalder, Warren Easton, Eleanor Mcmain, Queen Alexandra Kern, King Ryan A. Schwankhart, Destrahan High, Concordia College, McDonogh #35, East St. John, Helen Cox, Edna Karr, Saint Katherine Drexel and more.
