The capper of the 4-parade Sunday was the Krewe of Bacchus parade. Their intricately lit floats are familiar but continue to stun. J.K. Simmons (who I loved in Whiplash) made a regal king and seemed to be enjoying himself.
A new King Kong’s family float confused crowds used to throwing beads back at the former family floats. Local news tried to get the word out, but people still threw their beads. For the history of Bacchus and how the Brennan (restaurant) family fits in, click HERE. Though I couldn’t photograph the amazing marching bands and dancers in the dim light, I did manage to get some great shots of the beautiful floats.
Next up, Proteus and Orpheus.

I wanna be you
Someone yelled that to me when I was dancing with the Pussyfooters in Muses this year. It flashed me back to watching the Pussyfooters parading before I became a member. And to the Rocky Horror song, “Don’t dream it, be it.”
