Football has returned to the Superdome with the Saints preseason game against the Titans. But this year is different. After 8 years on the waiting list, my newlywed-husband’s season tickets finally came through and we have a new address – a seat, row and section in the Dome. It got me thinking again about why football matters. As they unfurled the giant American flag, I was proud that football is a uniquely American sport. The whole world agrees that “football” is soccer and that soccer is a way better game, but every time I see those helmeted gladiators take the field, I swell with pride and excitement. Why I love the Saints (and you could too)
Everyone loves underdogs, unlikely heros and moments of glory. They tickle the part of us that whispers, “I believe.” They show us that anything can happen. Pigs can fly, hell can freeze over, the Saints can win the Super Bowl. And since anything can happen, maybe they can even win it twice. Who Dat? 2 Dat. Believe Dat!

I love my first ever Who Dat wreath! (photo below) Continue reading
Throw me somethin’ mister!

The city wide love fest continued through last week. People are still pinching themselves over the Super Bowl victory and, though “Who Dat” is still a legitimate greeting, we’ve added new answer backs. “We Dat!” and “Believe Dat!” are the most popular. Continue reading
Believe Dat!
What a glorious and amazing day. The New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl! For the first time ever at their first Super Bowl ever and with plenty of points to spare. I must be the luckiest girl in the world to have moved here this of all years. Continue reading
