Krewes of Proteus & Orpheus Parades 2019

Lundi Gras is all about the floats. Krewe of Proteus, the oldest night parade, was established in 1882 and the last I heard, the majestic floats still sit atop the original wooden chassis. Lundi Gras

Proteus is the second oldest Krewe in the  history of Carnival (1882). This year’s theme of the Mythology of Astrology featured Zodiac floats among others.

This year’s theme for the Krewe of Orpheus was Delectable Delights. Orpheus is fairly new (1993), but they debuted with a splash as one of the largest and most celebrity studded parades. This year’s parade featured Saints head coach, Sean Payton, actor Steve Zahn, Harry Connick, Jr., LSU baseball coach, Paul Mainieri, and musicians Smashmouth and Taylor Dayne. Continue reading
